The exhibition “Theofilos Hatzimichael” was chosen for the celebration of the 30 years of operation of the Local Museum of Mileon.
With texts and rich photographic material, the exhibition provided information on the life and work of Theophilos focusing on his long stay in Volos and Pelion but also on his acquaintance with Stratis Eleftheriadis in the last years of his life when he had returned to Mytilini. Special mention was made of the frescoes that adorn the Theophilos Hall at the Museum of Greek Folk Art in Athens.
The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Museum of Greek Folk Art. At the opening of the exhibition at the Eudoxios Cultural Center in Milies, in 2012, the Head of the Museum of Greek Folk Art, Eleni Melidis gave a speech on the topic “One painter unites two museums” and the Director of the Research Center of Greek Folklore of the Academy of Athens, Aikaterini Polymerou Kamilaki with the theme “The painter Theophilos, a source for our popular culture”.
